I am a Principal Investigator (PI) at the James Hutton Institute and the University of Dundee, Division of Plant Sciences. My research is aimed at the applied aspects of crop genomics and genetic studies and focuses on:
- the mapping and cloning of disease resistance genes in potato and tomato using target enrichment and sequencing platforms (RenSeq)
- the development of genetic markers suitable for Marker Assisted Selection (MAS) in breeding programs
- functionally and evolutionary studies of plant disease resistance genes
- the development and assessment of crop protectants from biological origins
Through multiple externally funded projects, I work closely together with international industrial and academic partners.
